About Jemma Doak - Somatic Psychotherapist & Holistic Counsellor

A Compassionate Approach to Deep Healing

Our emotional life is shaped long before we can speak it. The experiences we have in the womb, in early relationships, and through the challenges of life live in the body — not just the mind.

Many of the people I work with arrive feeling overwhelmed, anxious, shut down, or stuck in long-held patterns. Some are navigating trauma, relationship pain, or identity shifts. Others simply know something feels off, and they want to reconnect with who they truly are.

Whatever brings you here, I offer a gentle, body-based approach to support emotional healing, nervous system regulation, and a deeper sense of self-trust.

My Therapeutic Style

I meet each person with warmth, clarity, and respect. My work is non-pathologising and process-oriented. We listen closely to what your body, emotions, and inner world are trying to say — even when it’s hard to find words.

Rather than rushing toward solutions, we create space to slow down, notice, and gently unwind the patterns that no longer serve you. This is therapy that honours your whole being — body, mind, and soul.

Areas I Commonly Support

  • Anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and nervous system dysregulation

  • Fertility, pregnancy, birth trauma, grief, and perinatal experiences

  • Relationship wounds, attachment trauma, and co-regulation difficulties

  • ADHD-related stress, burnout, and sensory sensitivity

  • Healing after narcissistic abuse or emotionally unavailable dynamics

  • Life transitions including parenthood, menopause, separation, and identity loss

  • The impact of early imprints or trauma that words can’t always reach

My Personal Path

This work is deeply personal to me. I’ve walked many of the same emotional landscapes my clients bring into the room. That lived experience, combined with over two decades of dedicated study and professional practice, informs how I hold space: with softness, depth, and reverence for the body’s innate wisdom.

I believe we each carry an inner intelligence that knows how to heal, and that with the right support, safety, and presence, that process becomes not only possible — but natural.

Therapeutic Influences and Approach

My practice is grounded in somatic psychotherapy and draws from a wide range of trauma-informed and body-based methods including:

  • Somatic EMDR

  • Process-Oriented Psychotherapy

  • Pre- and Perinatal Psychology

  • Polyvagal Theory and nervous system regulation

  • Trauma-sensitive mindfulness

  • Breathwork, embodied movement, and energetics

  • Women’s embodiment and Jade Egg therapy (where appropriate)

Sessions are paced to support safety, integration, and connection — with your body, your story, and your capacity to choose a new way of being.
